The dashboard just behind steering is very helpful to check distance to empty, mileage the car is returning. Coming on to the 6-speed manual which is certainly more fun to drive, kept us engaged when flooring the pedal on wide open highways. The mid-range is simply fantastic and gets very addictive. A sudden turn by a biker on highway made me steer hard right. The Harrier's 2,741 mm wheelbase is the same as that of the Discovery Sport: One of the best angles to view the Harrier from.

The manufacturer has worked meticulously on getting various aspects right with this one, also learning from its previous mistakes. It refused to go even after the engine was switched off and the car was locked. Greet the latest inclusion: Hyundai-sourced 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Harrier boasts Disc brakes at the front, and Drums at the rear. As you start driving though, we found the steering's weight to be perfect in the city it's just right, not super light. Our test-drive notes ran 19 pages long, while our total checklist was about 25 pages! That being said, the Feb manufactured cars we got in Bombay were better put together than the one we drove at the December media drive: Gaps are at their widest around the bonnet: Door handles get classy chrome inserts on their sides. You can feel the underlying stiffness on uneven roads and quite frankly, the Harrier doesn't ride as flat or composed as the Compass does, And neither does it dive into corners with the same enthusiasm as the Jeep, which is still the benchmark for dynamics in this segment. An owner reported that, in his Harrier, changing the temperature setting anywhere between 18 degrees - 30 degrees made no difference to the cooling. It also houses a 12V charging socket. The Harrier has disc brakes at the front and drums at the rear. Owing to this fusion, the Harrier has better driving dynamics and enhanced torsional rigidity.

The Harrier's ride quality is mature, but has a firm edge to it. Overall, the performance of the automatic variant is much better and its transmission looks quite impressive and nowhere does this vehicle make you feel anything like a jerk.
